By addressing the desertification of the Sahel and the international Great Green Wall initiative, this project seeks to engage and mobilise young people in Brittany around climate issues and their social impacts.

  • Project launch: 2024.

  • Project sites: Brittany (France), Senegal and, if possible, other Sahel countries.

  • Audience: ages 15-18 (high school students).

Development plan:

  • screening of the film The Great Green Wall.

  • encouragement of debate and establishment of discussion groups leading to action,

  • presentation or development of sustainable projects by the young people involved,

  • intercultural and international exchanges with young people from partner schools in France and Africa.

Objectives

The idea is to introduce the little-known theme of the Great Green Wall to high school students in Brittany, in order to:
- raise their awareness of the climate challenges affecting the world, and particularly Africa,
- involve them in greening projects through exchanges with young African students,
- engage them in a forward-looking approach to international solidarity.

  • organising and taking part in debates,

  • initiating sustainable projects,

  • building concrete connections with their peers in the Sahel.

Expected outcomes

  • increased awareness of the topics addressed,

  • adoption of more eco-responsible behaviours (both environmental and social),

  • promotion of international solidarity,

  • active youth engagement across all these areas of action.
