Discovering Europe at the La Fontaine des Eaux high school in Dinan

On Monday 15 April, a day of discovery took place at the Lycée La Fontaine des Eaux in Dinan, organised by the associations INTER+VALUE and the Jeunes Européens de Rennes (Young Europeans of Rennes). The aim? To offer students in their first year of vocational training in assistance with the management of organisations and their activities (Agora) a fun immersion in the world of Europe.

The event was marked by an exchange of experience between the school's teachers and the Romanian and Italian participants in the Thirsting For Europe project, initiated by INTER+VALUE. The latter had come to Brittany to gain a better understanding of the teaching of European issues in France.

With the support of the Jeunes européens de Rennes (Young Europeans of Rennes), the day was punctuated by a variety of activities. From quizzes on Europe to geography exercises where countries had to be placed on the map, to role-playing games, the high-school students were totally absorbed. These moments of exchange and learning were particularly appreciated, offering a new perspective on the workings of the European Union.

One of the highlights was the parliamentary role-play, in which the students slipped into the shoes of European deputies, putting aside their personal convictions to defend the positions assigned to them. On a topical issue such as “Fake News”, they had to argue and debate according to the party they represented. The plenary session that followed was an opportunity for them to defend their ideas, in an atmosphere reminiscent of a real parliamentary assembly, with class teacher Chloé Quiddem in the chair.

With the European elections scheduled for 9 June, this was an important day. Europe was at the heart of the discussions, demonstrating the commitment and curiosity of the younger generation about European issues.
