August, 12, 2025 • LAUNCH IN PORTUGAL OF THE ALBUM

TERRAS DE VIMIOSO, SUAS GENTES E COSTUMES
Vimioso region, its People and Customs

On 12 August 2025, the launch of the photography album Terras de Vimioso, Suas Gentes e Costumes (Vimioso region, its People and Customs) took place at the Vimioso Cultural Centre. Produced by INTER+VALUE, the album is part of the Confluences & Frontiers project, which aims to promote the culture and heritage of Breton and European territories such as the municipality of Vimioso, the Mirandese plateau and other areas of Trás-os-Montes (Portugal).

The photos are by Eduardo Perez, who, in 2023 and 2024, travelled throughout the municipality to capture buildings, works of art, infrastructure, landscapes, people, animals and customs.

The event featured speeches by Manuel de Lima, president of INTER+VALUE, Carina Lopes, deputy mayor of Vimioso, Father Rufino, parish priest, and photographer Eduardo Perez.

Musicians Amadeu Soares and Paulo Meirinhos entertained the gathering by performing traditional tunes from the Mirandese plateau.

At the end of the event, regional specialities and drinks were offered to those present: port, Mirandese ham pie, Dona Antoninha almond pastries, and more.

The album is available at various outlets in the municipality (municipal library, cultural centre, civil parish offices, etc.) and from the INTER+VALUE online shop (see below).

at the MIR auditorium, an evening entitled

FREEDOM AND DEMOCRACY IN EUROPE (LIBERTÉ ET DÉMOCRATIE EN EUROPE)
.

🎞 6 p.m. • screening

To open the evening, the documentary Des œillets pour la révolution (Carnations for the Revolution) (43 min, Arte 2024) will provide a visual reminder, through archival footage, eyewitness accounts, and contemporary reflections, of the Carnation Revolution which, in April 1974, freed Portugal from dictatorship and paved the way for democracy, decolonisation, and European integration.
