From 27 September to 4 October 2023, north-east Portugal was the scene of a magnificent event, the first Intercultural, Cross-Border and European Biennial of Vimioso. The aim of this event, which brought together players from various countries, was to highlight the region's rich heritage while promoting cultural and artistic exchanges.

The varied programme featured a host of exciting activities, including conferences organised as part of an international congress. The various discussions that took place explored different aspects of culture and the border, fostering a fruitful intercultural dialogue.

Visitors also had the opportunity to discover the Vimioso region through guided tours. These excursions allowed visitors to immerse themselves in the culture, sample delicious regional cuisine and appreciate the region's magnificent landscapes.

For film and documentary lovers, screenings of local films were organised, offering a fascinating insight into the life and history of Vimioso. Live entertainment, including dance groups and two orchestras, one from Bragança and the other from Ribadavia, provided a lively evening for locals and participants alike.

The event was a great success and pleased enormously, which has led the partners to envisage a similar event, notably in Ribadavia or a future edition in Vimioso.

Let's take a look back at

The visit to PINTA Park

On 27 September, we kicked off the first Vimioso Biennial at PINTA Park - the Iberian Nature and Adventure Park. The event provided an opportunity to present the Biennial's programme and the INTER + VALUE association's projects for the event.

During the day, participants were able to meet a group of local musicians, adding a musical note to the event. Afterwards, we all shared a traditional picnic called “Lançar a manta”, where everyone enjoyed local specialities in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

A visit to Algoso, Caçarelhos and Uva

On October 1, participants had the opportunity to discover several villages in the municipality of Vimioso, including Algoso, a place steeped in history where the convention of the Aldeias Históricas de Portugal (Historic Villages of Portugal) was signed. The tour also took participants to Uva and Caçarelhos, providing an authentic immersion in the region's culture and heritage.
