Allan Halley's murals in Bruz (Brittany, France)
June-October 2024
OUR MURALS
In 2023, in response to a call for cultural projects launched by the Citizens’ Cultural Council of Bruz (CCVC – Conseil culturel de la vie citoyenne de la ville de Bruz), INTER+VALUE submitted a project to create murals, which was selected. The proposal involved creating two large-scale artist murals and two smaller ones through collaborative workshops with children and elderly people.
Allan Halley, one of the two Chilean muralists who had recently gained recognition in Vimioso (Portugal), came to create the four murals between June and October 2024. In the end, all the murals were produced on large – or even very large – scale. The commitment to run workshops with children and elderly people was fulfilled: one took place in a school, and another in a care home.
Le Grand Logis
The first mural was created in June 2024 on one of the walls of the Le Grand Logis cultural centre.
To represent the people of Bruz, their use of soft mobility, and the weekly market, Allan Halley painted a young girl riding a bicycle, carrying fruit bought at the market in her basket. The girl is Louna Garand, a fine arts student who assisted him in creating the mural.
Drawing a parallel between the regional languages and cultural identities of Brittany and Chile, the artist included a word in Mapudungun, the language of the Mapuche, an Indigenous people of Chile: küyen, meaning “moon” – just like Louna.

Vert-Buisson Schools
In late June and early July 2024, the Vert-Buisson public schools hosted Allan Halley’s second mural in Bruz. Two days of workshops were organised for pupils from the private school and the public primary school to take part in sketching the mural.
Siméon Belliard Stadium
In September 2024, Allan Halley returned to Bruz to create his third mural on the wall of the Charles Joly hall at the Siméon Belliard Stadium. The mural depicts the gymnastics activities that take place in the hall.
Les Bruyères Residence
After the cultural centre and its nearby market, the schools and their pupils, and the stadium with its young athletes, a residence for elderly people was chosen as the location for Allan Halley’s fourth mural in Bruz: Les Bruyères Residence.
The mural is a tribute to the rainbow of colours the artist witnessed in Bruz countryside: a shifting Breton sky, full of changing moods and weather, lit up by the golden warmth of a glorious afternoon sun.

Murals by Jotapé and Allan Halley
in Vimioso, Portugal
March-September 2023
Parque de estacionamento da Praça Eduardo Coelho
Eduardo Coelho Square Car Park
In March 2023, after completing his mural in Ribadavia (Galicia), Jotapé travelled to Vimioso (Portugal), where he was joined by fellow artist, and friend Allan Halley, who, like him, hails from Valparaíso, Chile. Together, they created this first large-scale mural as a tribute to the courage of the women of yesteryear who, in order to provide for their families, braved the dangers of smuggling routes between Spain and Portugal.
Pavilhão Multiusos
Multi-purpose Pavilion
In preparation for the first Intercultural, Cross-Border and European Biennial of Vimioso – organised by INTER+VALUE and the local municipality from September 27 to October 4, 2023 – Jotapé created his sixth mural in the town centre of Vimioso, the seat of the municipality. He was assisted by Rosa Fuster, a young artist from Catalonia.
The mural was painted on the large wall panel of the multi-purpose pavilion, previously used to display the major annual events held at the venue.
This striking, large-scale mural went on to win an award in an international competition.

Jotapé’s Mural
in Ribadavia (Galicia, Spain)
February-March 2023
In February-March 2022, Chilean artist Jotapé was commissioned by the town of Ribadavia to create a large mural in honour of the Touzas sisters, three local heroines who, in the 1940s, saved many Jews fleeing Nazi persecution.
The mural was officially unveiled on March 8, 2023, International Women’s Day, by the town council in the presence of a delegation from INTER+VALUE.
